A SYMPHONY
Shot at the Vogue School on the West Side of Chicago on 16 mm film. The film starts with the gospel song “Jesus is a love song” performed by The Clark Sisters, contextualizing the Vogue movement as a sensuous and divine blooming. As the audioscape develops both the dancers and the rhythm break into a militant crash, falling and running into death as to defy life. A Symphony is an experimental edit intent on aligning and producing dialogue between the black ecstatic space of the church and the ballroom.
